Christmas trial program

Choose a dog tag.Help a veteran feel remembered.

For Christmas 2026, NVFF is planning a privacy-first Holiday Honor Tree inspired by angel-tree giving, with dog tags representing veterans or veteran families who could use a little extra care.

The promise

A Christmas treewith dog tags, built around privacy.

This is not about putting anyone's hardship on display. It is about letting the community quietly show up with dignity, respect, and Christmas warmth.

This first run is a Christmas trial. No photos, last names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, or full stories should be posted online. Public tags can include only the approved dog-tag details the veteran and family decide are appropriate.

The public tree is planned to run from November 28 through December 15, 2026. Delivery is planned for the week before Christmas.

The online tree is designed to mirror the separate dog-tag tree planned for the Memory Tree Festival. Once the program opens, approved tags can be tracked as available, reserved, or fulfilled after the veteran and family decide the public dog-tag details are appropriate and the details are confirmed.

Opens: November 28, 2026

Closes: December 15, 2026

How it can work

A trial run with clear rules before anything grows larger.

Private request

NVFF gathers details privately and confirms which dog-tag details the veteran and family approve for public use.

Dog tag created

Each tag can include an approved first name, service branch, years of duty, interests and hobbies, clothing size, and shoe size.

Supporter chooses a tag

A donor, family, business, classroom, or neighbor chooses a tag online or at the festival tree.

NVFF coordinates delivery

NVFF tracks claimed tags and coordinates delivery during the week before Christmas.

Dog-tag details

Enough to choose with care. Not enough to expose anyone.

Every public tag should feel personal enough for a supporter to help well, while staying limited to the details the veteran and family approve.

Approved public tagOnly what they approve
  • First name

The approved first name that can appear publicly.

  • Service branch

Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Space Force, or another approved service connection.

  • Years of duty

Service years or total years served, only as approved.

  • Interests & hobbies

A few human details that help supporters choose thoughtfully.

  • Clothing size

Approved size information when warm clothing or apparel may help.

  • Shoe size

Approved shoe or boot size when footwear may help.

Never shown publicly: last names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, photos, or full stories.

Private tree request

Submit a Christmas dog-tag request without making it public.

Use this form to privately tell NVFF about a veteran or veteran family who may be a fit for the Holiday Honor Tree. A public dog tag should only be created after the veteran and family approve the dog-tag details. You can also email adopt@noveteranforgotten.com.

Your information

Veteran information for NVFF only

What kind of Christmas support might help?

This request is private. Submitting this form does not place anyone on the public tree. NVFF should confirm that the veteran and family have approved exactly what can appear on a dog tag before anything is shown online or at an event.

Future growth

Christmas first. More only if the rules are ready.

NVFF can test this carefully at Christmas, learn what works, and then decide whether it should expand through the year. A year-round version would need clearer rules for veteran/family approval, privacy, eligibility, delivery, sponsor communication, and follow-up.
